AWS Elasticache support for Redis

AWS launched Elasticache (EC) support for Redis. Redis is a fast, open-source, in-memory, key-value data store. Because of its fast performance, Redis is a popular choice for caching.

An EC cluster Redis can be created with a different structure.

Single node. There is a one-to-one relationship between a node and a cache cluster.

Cluster with Replica Nodes - cluster mode disabled. The cluster supports replication with a single shard

Cluster with Replica Nodes - cluster mode enabled. The cluster supports replication with multiple shards

Retrieve MySQL error entries from Cloudwatch logs

AWS has enabled the push of MySQL RDS and Aurora to Cloudwatch logs. They are easy to query in the logs insight console where you can filter, download and store them as long as you like.

It used to be in the RDS console under the log section, but there was not user-friendly and you had to download each single log file one by one. They were split by hour so you would have 24 logs each day and then you could work them locally.

Using the Cloudwatch insight query console is far easier.

However, I'm going to demonstrate how to query the log stream via CLI so that you can still access the logs entries via terminal and then you can handle them as you like
